Need a Design? – 99 Designs

Tuesday, August 18th, 2009

99designs.com is a great website with a great model. Think about this, you host and control your own online contest for a design of any sort that you need. For example, if you need a logo for your new company, you can host a competition for the best design that 45,000 different graphic artists can come up with. You will receive hundreds of designs from all over the world. Find one you like, pick it, and award the designer the prize. Usually a one week contest will run you about $250. Of this amount, $200 will be awarded to the winner and you will own the design he/she created. It sounds a bit pricey but for something like a logo which a single designer may charge you,$200 for, you might as well see 100 concepts instead of one. So if you ever need anything designed, check out 99designs.com

John Beales Goes Camping – Whattt???

Tuesday, August 11th, 2009

logo_destinationA programmer without his computer, eating canned food, and pitching a tent. Well at least that is my guess on what Mr. Beales is up to at the moment.  While our lead programmer is looking for a nice little natural restroom to pop a squat, we have plenty people working on furthering the development of the site.  However, there is no doubt that John Beales is the mastermind behind what is to come. It’s exciting, and should hit your screens sometime in the fall. We all agree that everybody needs a little vacation now and then, so in honor of John trying to build a fire instead of a logarithm, I suggest Gorp.com for all your camping needs! Check it out, it will show you where to go, how to get there, suggested gear to bring, and tons of other good stuff from all over the world.
